HEAT EXCHANGER WORK SCOPE FOR SHUTDOWN

FOR- MECHANICAL ENGINEER, MECHANICAL SUPERVISOR AND MECHANICAL FOREMAN

JOB DESCRIPTION – INTERNAL INSPECTION, VT, UT, PT, TUBE INSPECTION BY RFET, TUBE VIDEOSCOPY, HYDROJETTING, HYDROTEST

Pre Shutdown Activities

  1. Scaffolding to be erected if required
  2. Insulation removal to be done if required
  3. Identify the location and do tagging of the equipment
  4. Apply de-rusting (Molykote) solvent to all the bolts
  5. Arrangement of blinds/vent spades/boilermaker, confirmation of blind insertion & arrangement for hydrotesting
  6. Fabrication of temporary support if required

Shutdown Activities

  1. Install the required blinds at inlet and outlet nozzles
  2. Remove the associated piping’s & provide temporary support if required
  3. Unbolting & Opening of front & rear bonnet covers.
  4. Visual Inspection after opening the exchangers
  5. Cleaning of covers, shell & tubes by hydro-jetting
  6. Internal inspection, VT,UT,PT & Tube Videoscope
  7. Buffing of weld joints as per Inspection requirements
  8. Tube Inspection by RFET, ECT, IRIS
  9. Make necessary arrangement & Perform hydrotest (Shell Test & Tube Test)
  10. Acceptance for hydrotest
  11. Clearance for box-up
  12. Welding of hydrotest plugs (if required) & Box-up of front & rear bonnet covers
  13. De-blind and re-instating the connections & torqueing

Post Shutdown Activities

  1. Re-fixing insulation if required
  2. Remove scaffolding if required
  3. Proper Housekeeping
