JOB TITLE : ENGINEER MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE
BASIC FUNCTION
Supervises directs and coordinates all activities of contractor personnel working in mechanical maintenance, repair, modification, and installation of all stationary mechanical equipment in assigned units. Ensures that job/safety standards are followed. Supervises mechanical contract work including tank cleaning and repair contracts/catalyst handling contracts/hydro blast & chemical cleaning contracts/on stream leak sealing plus scaffolding contract etc. for all stationary equipment.
WORK PERFORMED
A. Plans and supervises activities of assigned contractor’s personnel for units under his control. Performs supervisory functions at the unit level as established by management.
B. Directs and controls all activities of contractor personnel for planned/breakdown/turnaround mechanical field maintenance and modification/construction for stationary mechanical equipment in assigned units. Inspects job sites to ensure specified procedures, standards, and fire & safety regulations are followed.
C. Coordinates at his level with staff from operations, Safety, Maintenance, Engineering, Inspection to optimize field mechanical maintenance in his units within the framework agreed upon by the supervisor.
D. Analyses recurring/abnormal failures of equipment m his units. Suggests appropriate modifications/improvements to optimize the situation or recommends further specialist investigation.
E. Reviews engineering drawings as entrusted for stationary mechanical equipment in his units. Follows up on spare parts for existing/new equipment and recommends changes to minimum/maximum stocks for stationary equipment.
F. Attends pre-tender meetings to assist in preparing new bids, sketches, drawings, cost estimates, etc for discussion of jobs to be contracted. Assists in bid analysis and negotiations over contract variations.
G. Maintains and updates stationary equipment technical records, prepares technical reports, helps in generating data for inputs to budgets, improvement in maintenance methods/procedures, equipment replacement, etc.
H. Supervises training programs for new employees/Kuwaitis in his units. Ensures following of relevant fire & safety regulations, good housekeeping practices, etc. Attends call out after working hours.
I. Familiar with standards and laws covering Maint. of process plants in Refinery and Gas Plants
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
A. BE/B.Tech/B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University recognized .
B. Minimum Eight (8) years experience as a Maintenance Service Engineer in Petroleum/Petrochemical process plants with responsibility for maintenance of stationary equipment including shutdown works; with the last six (6) years in supervisory positions.
C. Read, write & speak English fluently.
D. Excellent knowledge in use of computers and related software (MS-Office .. etc.)
E. Shall be well aware of basic refinery safety aspects and use of Personal Protective Equipment.
